Practice makes perfect, and trying out this hardware is the best way for me to get familiar with it.

Winnipeg’s downtown streets take on a new character after dusk. The familiar cityscape transforms into a moody landscape of reflections and light, where every rain-slicked street and glowing window tells a different story. This series captures those moments—from the quiet alleyways and industrial spaces to the bustling intersections.

I took advantage of the rain-soaked streets and Friday evening traffic, using the reflections and headlights to add a dynamic feel to the photos. Using my new Sony A7iv, I pushed the limits of low-light photography, working handheld to capture the raw energy of the night. Paired with the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, the camera’s performance and incredible denoise capabilities in Lightroom Classic allowed me to preserve detail and texture in ways that weren’t possible before.

This collection is a tribute to the city I know and love, seen through a different lens. It reminds me that even in the quietest hours, the city is still alive.
