There is a brief, magical window across Manitoba when the crisp autumn air takes over—transforming the urban canopy throughout Winnipeg’s mature neighborhoods and parks into brilliant shades of gold and amber, while rural backroads and provincial spaces showcase the deep, quiet transition of the changing season. This collection captures those fleeting moments, from quiet morning lights and river reflections to vibrant canopy lines before the winter frost settles in.

Spanning both the city and the countryside, these frames explore a mix of perspectives. High above the core, a drone view looks down Portage Avenue near the historic Bank of Montreal building—now a landmark of the Manitoba Métis Federation—highlighting the changing urban landscape. Out past the perimeter, the journey moves to the quiet, winding trails of Shoal Lake, where deep forest canopies frame the water. Closer to home, the series tracks local wildlife moving through neighborhood pockets and the raw, kinetic energy of longboarding down leaf-strewn streets.

To capture the dynamic range of autumn colors and low-light transitions, this series was shot using a multi-platform setup: the Sony A7iv paired with versatile glass, the Pixel 11 Pro for on-the-go shots, and the DJI Mini Pro 5 for aerial perspectives. Every frame received subtle, intentional polish in Lightroom Classic to bring out the natural warmth, rich textures, and deep contrast of the season.

This collection is a celebration of autumn in our own backyard—a reminder of how quickly the landscape shifts and how vibrant our surroundings become when the leaves begin to turn.

Autumn in Manitoba

There’s a short window in Manitoba when the air turns crisp and the city canopy flips to gold and amber. This series tracks that transition—from the mature neighborhood pockets in Winnipeg out to the quiet, winding tree lines of Shoal Lake.

We hit a mix of angles for this drop. Up high, a drone shot looks down Portage Avenue past the old BMO building and the MMF headquarters. Down at ground level, you get neighborhood deer, the raw pace of longboarding down leaf-covered streets, and reflections out past the perimeter.

Shot across a multi-platform setup—the Sony A7iv for the heavy lifting, the Pixel 11 Pro for quick pocket catches, and the DJI Mini Pro 5 for the overheads—with a light pass in Lightroom Classic to pull out the natural warmth and textures without overcooking it.
